Suggestions for quilting thread color
I have completed this log cabin beauty and am getting ready to quilt it. I'm having a spot of trouble determining what color thread I should use because of the highly contrasting colors.
Is there a guide for what color thread your should use to quilt a log cabin quilt? Something that matches the light? Something that matches the dark?

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
This is absolutely stunning! What a great job you did choosing fabrics!
I have a hard time picking thread color, too. For this one I think I'd chose a medium gray so that it will blend in nicely with both the light and the dark fabrics. But I agree it's a tough decision!

Beautiful quilt! I was going to say grey as well.

I think I'd go with a purple...what color is the back?

Thank you so much! I hadn't considered a grey color. I think that will blend the best as well!

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
I agree with the grey thread, I have used it before and it works just fine. But do try it out on scraps, I do that as well before I start quilting always...just to make sure I have no issues with my machine....a scrap I can toss, I am not tossing a quilt!

I forgot to say that your quilt is stunning!

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
I lay out my quilts and stretch a length of different colors of thread across it and then choose. I find in doing this I can tell which ones look the best with the quilt.
Your quilt is spectacular.

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
Wow, this quilt is just gorgeous!!! I love it.
At first I thought a purple thread would be nice but I think grey would be a good match too.

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
They also make a fishing line type thread that will blend in with all the colors. I can't remember what it is called...

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
I agree with grey. Grey and sage green seem to be the two that I find blend in the best with just about any colors.

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
Stunning quilt, I like the others would use the grey in the top thread, and since your back is going to black, maybe use black in the bobbin.
But do be sure and test it out on a piece of scrap fabric, if you can the same fabric you used in the quilt top, and make sure that the bobbin thread and the top thread are the same weight of thread.

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
Love your quilt. Gray would be a choice and I would use that in the top but I would use black in the bobbin to match the back.

What about varigated? Sorry for the spelling my spelling brain isn't working yet!

Re: Suggestions for quilting thread color
Very striking - love how the wavy fabric looks woven in the middle of each block - makes a secondary design.

Monofilament or invisible. My machine worked perfectly with it - some don't. My only problem with it is that is very hard to see if you have to rip it out. I do like the look - it doesn't take away from the fabric if you are just FMQ'ing.
