Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
Jenny does a tutorial on it using 3 fabrics. 2 fabrics are cut into 2.5" strips and 1 fabric is cut into a 4.5" strip then you sew them together to make a tube.
I want to make a 3 fabric quilt for a friend of mine and this one looked pretty easy...which means I'll have a hard time with it! LOL
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
I've never seen that tutorial until now. Pretty neat. I might have to give it a try. Like I don't have enough quilt ideas hanging out there already, ha ha.
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
Now I wish she had indicated how much fabric you need. My mom bought me some fabric in the states while she was vacationing so I have a limited supply of it. I'd hate to start a quilt and run out of fabric!
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
Do you have a link for that one? I can't seem to find it.

Looks good, only problem I can see is that all the seams are on the bias. How do you prevent stretching?
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
I now have another quilt for my todo list!
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
Any time you are working with hst you will be sewing on the bias. Several people use spray starch to help minimize stretch. I personally think, as I have done hundreds of hst, as long as you don't pull the fabric while sewing and press not iron you should be fine.

Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
I made three tablerunners last year for Christmas gifts. They were very easy and went together so quickly.
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
I made a quilt using this paatern. Worked up very quickly, like mentioned in previous post, PRESS not iron.... as this will stretch the hst and make them as Jenny says..."wonkey". Very nice pattern.....
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
That looks great Cyndi! Maybe I'll make my friend a table runner instead of a quilt. I know I have enough for that.
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
I made a pillow using this square for DS#5's girlfriend for Christmas; I've only been piecing for a short time; this was very easy and she loved it!
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
I wish I had not klicked that link.........now I want to make one too........
Beautiful pattern!
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
Yes. I have made two of them and they were easy & turned out looking complicated. I really liked using that technique. My avatar is one of them!
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
Well shoot! Now I wanna make that one! Sigh. Will I EVER Decide?!?
Re: Has anyone ever tried the tube quilt
Yes!!! I'm working on one now and it is my very first quilt!!! So easy to do, and I love the results.
