Point problem, opinions appreciated!
The one diamond (center on right side) isn't lined up correctly. I'm not exactly sure what I did wrong. However, I think it was a cutting issue. Is it worth fixing, or should I leave it? It's the only one (out of 12) that ended up screwy. It's for a baby quilt for a friend...I don't know it will look really obvious once the entire quilt is assembled?
Is it that bad?
I know I have to square things up...but that seam is really irking me.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I would leave it. Once it is washed it won't even be seen. I had to look really hard to even find it. The rule here is if you can't see it atop a galloping horse, don't worry about it.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
Hahaha, love the "galloping horse" line! I agree, you probably won't notice after quilting and washing. If it is going to keep you awake at night, then rip that sucker out! :icon_wave:

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I cannot find the mistake! I wouldn`t change anything. Aren`t exactly this small "mistakes", what our quilts make so unique?
-
Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
Can't see it from my house...I would leave it too. I love the fabrics by the way.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I would leave it. At one time I would have fixed it being somewhat OCD. However with much encouragement from my friends, I don't do anything unless it jumps up and bites me. I think it will be just fine.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I think from what I can see, the issue is that the top right square of that block is bigger than the other three. I'd fix it. Trim that square or make another. I really pride myself on trying to get things in line as best as I can. It's noticable to me.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I'd leave it. Life's too short. Besides it gives it character and I cannot even see it.
-
Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
Only if it is going to keep you up at night! Seriously, once it's in the quilt and all the stitchings done, no-one but YOU will ever see it - I can't find it myself, but I have developed a healthy "Good enough" and done attitude :-) I like to finish, not keep picking at what I'm working on - Quilt it and be done and happy for your's friends baby

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I'm not too sure where the problem is. I love the colours and the pattern and it all looks great to me.
Auntiemern mentioned the galloping horse - it has a lot of input into my work - and also the 3 yard rule - if you stand back 3 yards and can't see a problem then it's perfect. And don't forget - all quilts need a humility point!
It's beautiful - looking forward to seeing the finished item.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
Love the colors and the pattern! I'd keep it the way it is. It really isn't that noticeable.
-
Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
Thinking that once the whole quilt is done, you won't be able to notice.. Truly think we are our worse judges! Looks nice!
-
Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I totally agree with the galloping horse rule and the 3 yard rule....you need to remember that we sit right on top of what we sew, it seems to magnify every mistake...standing back gives you a better perspective! And a more accurate one as well!

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I don't think you will ever be happy with the quilt unless you fix it. While I agree that no one will notice it, you always will. It would not take much time to fix that one block.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I was going cocked eyed trying to find it but never did .
-
Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I hope you left it alone. I can't even find it!
-
Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I would fix it but that's just me. Depends on how much it bothers you. If you're not a perfectionist then let it go. The fact that you're asking suggests to me that you don't want to fix it. If that's the case, just leave it as it is. I see two places where they don't line up. The most noticeable to me is bottom left block. The fact that it is only 12 blocks makes it more noticeable. They wouldn't be that noticeable on a much larger quilt.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
Looks fine to me. I tend to be overly critical of my own work but I find no one else is as critical as I am. The recipient will just be delighted to be getting a quilt made with love.
If you need more convincing; old quilting wisdom is that every quilt should contain some flaw because "only God is perfect".
***I'd say this holds true across all the different deities if you are of a different religion.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
Quilting is something that we enjoy doing. If we get to the point that we only focus on our mistakes, then we won't enjoy it. I try to do as little ripping out as possible. Once in awhile, I have something that I can't live with, but I've found that a lot of things that were an issue when I was piecing together don't look as bad later on when it is completely quilted and the binding is on.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
The top is complete. And I have to sit and look to find that one mistake.
-
Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
The fact that you asked suggests that you may not be 100% happy with it. I'm with Rebecca in that I would fix mine. However, it is not contrasty enough to really jump out and I bet the baby won't care. So you do what you feel comfortable with. It will be pretty.

Re: Point problem, opinions appreciated!
I have never seen a perfect quilt. We all make mistakes some big ones that need fixing and some small ones that can be left. Just call it your signature and know their will never be another one just like yours.
Love the colors by the way.
