Micky/MInnie Mouse quilt..suggestions on FMQ/top stitching...

THis quilt top is 55x55. I am ready to FMQ it. I will either have fleece as the backing or cotton and batting.
But I need ideas/suggestions on how to FMQ it.
THe Northern Star (my fav to make!) is one block and the Minnie/Mickey block is just the fabric. The cornerstones are a 4 patch. And then the sashing in the middle and I will have a black binding on it.
Normally I just meander 1 inch apart but was wanting to do something different this time and try to make the stars stand out a bit...and meander the MM blocks

Northern Star block....I am thinking if I

....just straight stitch diagonally along the lines of the seams of the star...just on each block.
....meander just the star, or stipple just the white behind the star to make the star stand out and only SITD the seams of the star.
....or straight stitch the diagnonal the entire quilt in lines with the star.
.... meander it all

I want to try something new but want to make sure I am good enough at it and it turns out good as this one I am selling....has to be better than just "okay by me".

What do you suggest/recommend I do for the top stitching/FMQ'ing on this quilt? It is 55x55.

Also, I haven't decided on the back yet...depends on the price of fleece, flannel and cotton/batting and what print I can get... I want red with big black dots/circles, but couldn't find that last time I was at the store when I got the rest of the fabric, so any suggestions on what would be good for the back..fleece, flannel or cotton/batting...and suggest on the print?

Hi I just had to say I so love your quilt top, what a great way to show off mickey and minnie, Sorry I am not going to help with FMQ advice I have done very little myself but I am looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.

I can't help either because I can't figure what looks best on what yet. lol But it soooo cute!

Wow, such a pretty quilt top, the colors are great. I always like meandering but that's just me.

I would either echo quilt, or SITD the stars, and meader/stipple Minnie blocks. Your quilt is adorable btw. Love the four patch corner stones.

It would be awesome if you could do a meander, and maybe every now and again sneak in a mickey head (the three-circle shape). Just like the hidden Mickeys at Disney :D As for backing, I think any dots would look great as long as they have the same colours as the top (black, white, red, all of the above :) ) Can't wait to see the finished quilt!!

As Dee said.......I was going to mention mouse head with ears for the Mickey fabric. What about rows of straight lines on some parts of your stars..........if you have and extra block you could try it out first for a sample.

I love the stipple .... with my last quilt I got brave trying swirls..... it is turning out well, not as good as it would with a Longarm, so stipple is my fav.....

Oooooo!!!! My 4yo GD would just love that. She's a big fan of Mickey and Minnie - I think it is adorable but the last person who would be able to adivse about FMQ!! Don't forget to show us when it's finished.

Just my 1.5 cents worth - I agree with lines inside the points of the stars and maybe several rows of echo quilting around the outside edges of the star (on the white) . To make it pop out. ..if you do lines in the points, looks like you'll have to change threads as I don't think you want black on your red points. I love the mousey fabric, it's too cute! As this is for a child, I'd suggest flannel backing as,is softer. As the print is busy, I think a meandering would be nice too... Perhaps try both Mickey ears and meandering on a sample block and see how it,goes. If you can't find dotted fabric for the backing, stars would be nice too ..Your points are perfect ...this is a great job done, all your sewing is nice and professional looking.

A line of quilting that is stitched a uniform distance away from a fabric patch, applique piece or quilting motif. If you stopped with the first line of stitching, it is called outline quilting. If you continue by stitching another line a uniform distance away from the first, you are now echo quilting. Continue adding lines of quilting in this manner until you are satisfied with the look.

This quilt is going to be adorable! I shouldn't really comment, as I'm strictly a SITD novice, at best.
But if you could incorporate the Disney mouse ears image in some way, that would be a 'Knock Out'!

Beautiful. I would Stitch in the Ditch on the stars and the sashing and do a meander in the Mickey fabric. I also like the idea of the Mickey heads in the meandering.

I have been racking my brain and searching and searching for a way to use gorgeous fabric that I just don't want to cut into small pieces-this is PERFECT!!

I am no help at all on how to quilt. I still balk at having quilting cross seam lines and be totally unrelated to the actual quilt design. I am not really artistic like that.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I am myself really happy with how this turned out. It is my first of this style. I LOVE making these stars with HST's...I LOVE making HST's!!! I have quite the system down pat for making them! Simple pleasures for simple minds I guess!

But I LOVE LOVE the Mickey ears idea. I am going to go with that and maybe hide some like someone said they are hidden at Disneyland. I read about that years ago (unfortunately haven't been back to the land since, but my son has and he looked and found many of them!) I"ll ouline/echo the star and meander and mickey ears the print...and just meander the sashings.
