Re: Advice for a sampler quilt..
how far along are you in fmq? How about an all over design like swirls and hearts, or flowers and vines? Ive never a sampler quilt but i think that would be cute for a teenage girl. I agree stippling gets boring fast! Love fabrics btw!

Re: Advice for a sampler quilt..
Echo quilting of each pattern might looks good on a sampler. I believe Angie did a sampler with a different FMQ design in each block.

Re: Advice for a sampler quilt..
If you're really comfortable with FMQ you can stick to one pattern for the sashing and borders, and then do a different FMQ pattern for each block. Leah Day has at least 365 different patterns to choose from

Re: Advice for a sampler quilt..
I did a sampler with jewel tones and black sashings & border and just used an all over stipple - turned out great!

Re: Advice for a sampler quilt..
I think the quilt again will choose what will be quilted on it lol
Ive tried pre thinking quilting and it never works for me !
I like the idea of ghosting each block and maybe add a patterned quilting on the borders and sashing ..
Could be fun ! ( or im going to go grey trying ) ... Oh wait.. I am grey ! ( under the dye

Echo quilting for the blocks and a swirl or flower/vine for the sashing and borders?
