Default Need advice I'm a little annoyed

So I have to reveal first, I'm not a pet owner or a prewasher of fabric. I ordered fabric off etsy and yes I loved it to pay 15.00 for a yard with shipping... I got it and it's black fabric covered in white cat fur.....really???? Seriously??? ...end rant. Now I never prewash fabric, 5 kids I have enough laundry! I have to prewash this, am I going to have a huge issue using it with non prewashed fabrics? Or should I keep it in it's envelope and wait til I have all the fabrics in mind for this project and prewash this whole project? Which is going to be the less aggravation??? Thanks, Rachel

That is not right. Would not recommend this seller.

Rather than prewashing it if you're not going to prewash your other fabrics (I don't like to prewash either) could you use one of those sticky lint rollers to get the hair off the fabric? Just a thought -- I like to use one to get little loose threads off quilts. I'm very allergic to cats so I think I'd return it to the seller -- I wouldn't be able to use it.

That would only happen if it were a private seller. Could it be that the fur you are seeing is from some fake fur cut and sold right before yours? I just can't see it if it were from a shop. We have cats and live with fur all the time. None of us are allergic to it, and it is a small price to pay for our wonderful pets.

Nope definitely cat sheddings I can smell cat as soon as I unwrapped it. I'm not a animal hater and had I know up front I would not complain. The great lady who taught me to quilt smoked so I knew everything from her house would smell like smoke. I'll just wash it and hope for the best in my project.... I just don't normally prewash so I didn't want problems with the finished product. It's for me anyway so guess I'll experiment lol!! Thanks for the replies and advice I truly love this site and all of you, I love that I can come on here and get advice!!

You have a good sense about this and good you are not allergic -- But other people need to know this store sells from a Pet environment -- If I see items (I did on eBay years ago), I never say from Smoke free or Pet Free!

Other people shopping at that etsy store may be SO allergic they have to go to the hospital :-( I'm happy you can work with it -- If you don't want to get your money back, but still see if you can make etsy aware or the seller Puts their are Animals around their fabric for other peoples safety

(I don't smoke OR let my cats into my fabric room), but being cats I'm sure I wear their "Love" on my clothes with me :-)

I think i would wash it before the fur gets all over everything else. And would not order from them again. Hope you get a good response from the seller!

She states they are a mother daughter team that own a quilt shop. Her mom runs the shop and she runs the sales on etsy....I have ordered alot from etsy and never ran into this..I even went back and reread everything to see if I missed something about cats...Nothing in her feedback, the fabric came wrapped but being black hard to miss all the white cat fur. Being stationed in Germany my only way to get fabric is to order online this was just an outdated print that I love..... so I'm trying to make the best of it!
