Binding question - different fabrics
When binding a quilt has anyone ever used a strip from each of the different fabrics that is in the quilt? I have eight different fun fabrics and thought about using strips from each to make my binding. I also thought this might make it look like I ran out of material, kinda "patchy".

I love the look of a scrappy binding. Here's a picture from one of my albums where I used strips leftover from a jelly roll quilt to use as the binding. http://forum.missouriquiltco.com/alb...chmentid=18660

Many times! It adds a very happy scrappy look to the quilt!

Re: Binding question - different fabrics
I often use strips of fabric to make the binding. If you look at my album I am pretty sure I have at least one in there that has that. Just got through making a little quilt out of leftover squares and did the entire binding out of them as well. Sewing 4" blocks of varying colors together for the binding. It is a wonderful way to use leftover strips from your quilt. So go right ahead and do it however you want.

I LOVE 'scrappy' bindings. If I have strips, I sew them together with a diagonal seam so that it isn't so bulky when I'm hand-stitching the binding down.

I don't believe I have a picture of the quilt that I made my granddaughter but almost every fabric that was in the quilt showed up in the binding as well. My daughter just loved it and often speaks of this quilt.

Hi Kellie, Yes, I've seen it done and it looks great. Am just about to do it myself in batiks on a throw with black background. Go for it, girl.

Attachment 21878I did a binding using the left over squares from my batik layer cake and just cut them up. So, I had a different fabric every 10 inches.
