Lost and found precuts
Has anyone made a quilt with the "lost and found" precuts? I think it is very pretty, but I am concerned that it may be really pink after it is put together. The person I am making it for chose this fabric but she is really looking for something more in the line of black, cream, gray, with a little red. I don't want her to be surprised with the amount of pink. I was considering pulling the pink fabrics and just using the others. thanks.

Hi, Debby, I'm from Florissant, but come to St. Charles often for fabric shopping. Like today! Sorry, I'm unfamiliar with that collection of precuts. Do you have enough for your project to finish it without the pinks?
Duh, i just checked and remembered I had purchased that line some months ago. It does have quite a bit of pink in it. The rose is more pink than red, that might contribute to the feeling of too much pink. Which size precut are you using, and what pattern re you using? I bought mine long enough ago that I don't remember what pattern I had in mind for it.

I haven't purchased it yet. She wants a quilt with light areas to use as a guest book for her wedding this summer. We are thinking of a jelly roll race quilt with short, 12 inch, pieces inserted every so often for the guests to sign and write messages.

What a cool idea! A lasting memento, for sure! Could you get a cream jellyroll and use that for the messages, then limit the pink? I have a charm pack, and about 1/4th of the squares are pink. Do you know Riley Blake precuts always have less strips than most? To make any jelly roll quilt of any size, you need at least 40 strips, more if you want it to cover a bed. I've made a lot of them, including big ones for my queen bed. You need between 60-80 strips to cover a queen bed. Let me know if you want more information about these quilts. Jean

Maybe you should talk to your friend about the colors - good thing you haven't purchased yet....

I would suggest you and your friend together peruse the pre cuts and let her decide. If her chosen colors do not include pink, I would not include them. Good luck with what ever you decide.
