About SusieIsNana
Biography:
Hi! I'm Susie Williams from Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas, the most beautiful little city in the US...IMHO anyway. I'm born and reared here so I may be just a bit biased. We were the first (or very close to it) National Park designated in the US. We have naturally thermal waters that bubble right up out of the ground so our main industry is tourism. We also have a 3 gorgeous lakes...great for fishing, boating, skiing....here. As for quilting, my Momma did the most beautiful hand quilting and she did her best to teach me but I just never quite got it. Now that she's been gone 6 years, I truly wish I'd tried a LOT harder to learn the art. That said, however, I did get her all around crafty gene. I've been sewing off and on for 20 years but after having a granddaughter, Ellery, 4 years ago, I began sewing in earnest. I also machine embroider. I have a multi-needle as well as single-needle embroidery machines, 2 sewing machines, a serger and a brand new ScanNCut, all Brother machines. Guess you could safely say I'm a fabri-holic, as we All are, huh?!? I only started quilting 4 months ago. My first 2 were baby quilts that were embroidered first then sewn together then quilted on the embroidery machine. Not 100% satisfied with the outcome so now I'm traditionally piecing a KING SIZE (crazy, right, for such a novice!!) Double Wedding Ring quilt. I've completed 84/392 arcs and am going to a class tomorrow to begin attaching to the melons and centers. Fortunately, it's a Christmas gift so I have time on my side! Thank You, Jesus, for that one!! In the UFO dept, I have an I spy disappearing 9-patch about half done and Ellery just designed her first quilt today (a form of the jelly roll race quilt) for her twin bed at my house and I've gotten maybe 1/3 of it sewn together this afternoon. I AM TOTALLY, IRREVOCABLY ADDICTED!! Currently taking a CRAFTSY class on free motion quilting bc I want to do it ALL. When I give a quilt, I want to be able to say with confidence, " I designed and made that just for you" and I don't think I can if I send it out for quilting. That's just me, though. No judgments from me for those who choose to send out to a longarm quilter. I am a lover of quilts...ALL quilts!!!
