Two jelly rolls will get you 32 blocks. If you did 5 across and 6 down it would be 68 x 81.5 using the 14 inch backing blocks. That is small for a...

I had a senior moment. You will only have 16 blocks from the one jelly roll. That would only give you 4 rows across and 4 rows down. I will crawl...

My dresden template says a 5 inch dresden will make a circle 12 1/2 inches in diameter and they recommend a 14 inch block. You will have 8 blocks...

Papa, you simply crack me up! Love your sense of humor! And the fact that you enjoy sewing,as well. Taught our son the basics on sewing, cooking cleaning. Knew he'd need it, at the time he was embarrassed, today he's pretty proud of it! Country folks I think have more capabilities, better humor, and a more healthy outlook as a result, on life in general! Thanks for making me laugh today!!! What a great gift!
    Kind Regards,
    Carrie
  2. Thank you for the nice message. I grew up in the wilds of northwest Arkansas and lived far from neighbors most of the time. To pass the time, my grandmother taught me to knit and crochet. I would go with her to quilting bees and watch the ladies quilt. I did not take up sewing until much later in life but have always enjoyed working with my hands. My uncle was the sewer in his family too. He made all the clothes he and his wife wore square dancing. It is not easy for us elderly single white hillbilly males to go fabric shopping but I do it anyway. Thank you again for my first pm on the forums.

    Hi Papa
You sound like a riot. I was wondering how you became interested in quilting? My father was always the sewer in our house.
    Happy sewing
