About Mammaw58
- Biography:
- I am retired from the IRS for 22 yrs. I had a HA/triple by pass in 2004, I died twice and came back. So, I have been given a second chance. I have sewn since I was in 5th grade, I made my wedding dress, suits for my dad,my children's clothes but never quilted until 2 yrs ago. I saw in our church bulletin about joining the quilting group. I stepped out of my comfort zone an attended a meeting and I have been hooked ever since. Our group went on a retreat and I had a blast. I have met some wonderful people from our group and I have gained so much knowledge that all the books can't teach you. I love all of my "Quilting Sisters" to pieces, they mean the world to me. I attended the Paducah quilt show this spring, my husband and I had a blast. All I can say is "WOW" I had no idea that quilting was such a large commodity! I also attended my 1st trunk show in Lawrenceburg, Indiana hosted by Quilter's Garden. And I enjoyed Jenny's "Trunk Show" presentation. She was kind enough to sign everyone's books. The most important thing about quilting is you can be whoever you want to be. You can follow a pattern or create your own. No two quilts are the same because we all have our own style. And that to me is so important. The friendships that you create while quilting is just as important as the quilt itself. My only regret is that I didn't get involve with quilting sooner.
