About Lady T
- Biography:
- My name is Theresa and I live in a small rural community in SE Iowa. I married my soulmate in 1989.
Together we 3 grown children and 9 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter.
I have always enjoyed hand sewing, a trait inherited from my Mother. I began quilting after she passed away from breast cancer in 2001, my first quilt in memory of her.
Mom ALWAYS seemed to have a hankie on her somewhere... in a pocket, in her purse or up a sleeve.
I had always had a love of quilts and thought her hankies would be wonderful and best preserved if they were sewn in a quilt. Mom had battled breast cancer for many years so I wanted to somehow acknowledge her courageous struggle by incorporating something along those lines into the quilt.
So, I pieced the top using some of Mom's old handkerchiefs along with 'pink ribbon' fabrics. I decided to applique (something I had never done before) pink BC ribbons and the breast cancer awareness angel.
The satin stitch on the ribbon appliques is FAR from perfect, but as Mom looks down from above -
I'm sure it looks perfect to her.

What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal." - Albert Pine
