Hi Kellie, This is the pattern I have used, it is very easy, after the cutting is done it goes together real fast. http://www.maryquilts.com/wp-content...le-4-patch.pdf Have fun! Klasien
Hi Kellie, I'm fairly new to this blog and see that you are from California, Mo. I live right outside of Jefferson City. Wow, what a find from that garage sale. Congratulations on finding such a good deal. They don't have any more "good" suff do they? Karen Jurgensmeyer
Kellie, I had a whole long post written, but this message board won't let me post one that long. I posted how I make my sandwich and quilt it. If you want me to send it to you, I could do it via email, and not have to worry about how long it gets! Jean
Kellie, I did see it and thought it looked better. I think mitering corners is a skill that works well sometimes and sometimes not. I find if I do that fold up then fold down thing, if I leave a little extra as I fold up then down, that I have more room to fold down when I am sewing it down on the second side. It was hard for me to tell, did you use multiple fabrics for your border? I am always trying NOT to have a seam where you piece the binding sections right by the corner that I'm trying to miter, because all that extra bulk is hard to incorporate into the binding and make it smooth at the corner. Are you using the 2--1/2" strip, folded in half, doing a 1/4" seam to put it on the first side and then machine sewing it? This is how I do it. I use the same method Jenny shows in her Machine Binding video tutorial. Another thing I want to know is this--before you sew on your binding, do you sew the edges of the top, batting and binding together? Jean
Glad you came back....you have some pretty quilt pictures...maybe you can tell me how you quilted the friendship braid? It is my 5 or 6 quilt so far. Don't think I can do the FMQ thing yet.
Thank you for your sweet comments on my 1st quilt!
