Hello and welcome to the M* forum! My name is Sherri and I live in the River Valley area of Arkansas (a transplant from the KC Metro).
In response to your post on where to begin:
    - baby quilts are fun to do and they are an honor to make! You could start out with Panels and use your imagination on how to border the panels!
    - Local quilt shops (LQS) are nice to visit and compare; I myself, do not buy a lot of items from quilt shops as the prices are higher than other fabric stores such as Hancocks, Hobby Lobby and even Wal-Mart.
    - Missouri Star's bi-monthly magazine is great!
-Make sure the class is something simple andnot complicated!
    - I have many charm packs, it is a great way to have co-ordinating fabric that match and does cut the time in cutting.
_ Absolutely! 9 patches can be made in various sizes!

Do what makes you comfortable, many forum members have user notes that are very helpful.....ask questions and you'll get the ansers, sweetie!
    Sherri
