I'm sorry. I just now saw your message. Don't know how I missed it before. My dog (Brody) is part beagle and cocker spaniel. A lot of people think he is border collie because of his markings. Since he is full grown he has a beagle face but wavy hair like a spaniel. I guess I am partial, but I think he is a really cute dog.
Yeah, warm and natural is all I've used since quilting. Very nice. I think you'd like that. I was just thinking that that batting you used for the baby quilt would be nice for those who like to make "comforter" type blankets the ones that are a little thicker but isn't heavy. If that makes sense? lol I love comforters, so that is why I was asking.
Good luck with the Black & white. Love to see your finished project!
Cellomom, thanks for your note! I agree with you...a life without Jesus must be really fearful. I love walking in HIS Presence, knowing nothing comes into my life without passing through his nail-pierced hands. Thanks also for your admiration of the quilt. I used the EZ Dresden Ruler and actually, followed the BLACK & WHITE block swap on this forum to make the blocks. Then, the bow ties was just one of the ways you can turn your blocks when assembling them. If you cannot find the instructions on the Forum groups, let me know and I'll look up what I copied at the time of the swap.
Hi, thanks for the compliment on the quilt. The block is the Old Italian Block but i got the entire pattern out of a book called The Civil War Sewing Circle by Kathleen Tracy. It is a soldier's cot quilt. Then I found http://makeitsimpler.com/ where Anita Grossman Solomon shows how to very quickly and easily cut out the pieces for the block. So easy I am going to make another one!
Thank you for stopping by! The Luna Notte bag is the one I carry. I LOVE that fabric line...I wish I had more of it.
I found a link to a video on setting up the quilt on the frame. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa4cGmkJzHc If you notice, her frame did not have a batting rail, and she just let the batting hang. I agree that you really don't need a batting rail. I attach my quilt top differently. When my backing is pinned and the batting just laid on top of it, I bring the top up and pin it to the batting and backing, and not to the leader. That works fine. I would never sew anything like she mentions. Just make sure your backing is longer than you really need to cover the quilt top.
I think you will like your loom. I think you should be able to use PVC pipe instead. Of course, you will need to be creative in attaching the batting to it, but it really doesn't need to be attached. A man came out to deliver it. My son in law set it up for me. What I did for the other poles is to make my own leader cloth. I made each leader with about 15 inches of fabric. I sewed a line down the edge of it about one inch from the bottom. This line is where to pin. I marked the center with a black marker. To attach the top and the back, I use straight pins. The batting doesn't get pinned, but lays down by itself. Do you have the video that shows how to set things up? If not, I am not sure I can but I can try to make you a copy of mine. The only thing I don't like is that you can only quilt about 5 inches at a time. I have a picture of my loom in my album titled Sewing room. Let me know about the CD. (I hope I can even find mine.)
Thank you for your compliments on my tumbler quilt. Like your work too!
Thanks Cellomom for your compliments on my Bird on the Vine table runner! I had fun making it. My friend loves bluebirds too so she wanted one on the runner. I like playing with applique anyway so always enjoy trying something different with each of my projects.
