translated the recipe of the "Fueskichelcher" and posted them in the Yummy recipes. Hopefully you'll be able to try them, as my English is not too good in translating recipes.

greetings from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

Hi Ms Jan, thank you for the comment on my quilt. That is the back of the quilt I gave my aunt Helen. She LOVED it! I was so happy.

How is Emily doing? Tell her I think of her daily and say a little prayer for her.

Wanting to get back to sewing this weekend. Three weeks and I am going into severe withdrawals. Got to jump on our QOV for our Missouri boy. Hey, got an idea for what I should use for the backing? Solid, print, ???? Hugs, Megan

Thank you - yes it is for one of the soldiers with Libby's son. It has been really busy at work (which is a good thing), and I travel for work, so that limits my forum time. When I travel and have my work laptop I can surf and see what everyone has been up too, but I can't post! At least I can get my daily fix and see the daily deal!
  6. All of the pieces are then embroidered over the seams. I used several different embroidery colors - whatever I had leftovers from. Since I knew absolutely NOTHING about quilts I bought a fleece for the backing and I really think the sashing is some polyester gunk. I then tied it using red crochet thread. And we love it - especially in the cooler months before we get out the down duvet. Have fun - I have so many ties left that I would love to do some patchwork stuffed animals out of some . . . whenever I find some time.
    Love you!!
  7. You are such a sweetheart - thanks for the comments on my necktie quilt. I started that quilt way back during the Gulf War when I was evacuated from Saudi during the early part of the invasion. I was in Texas and went garage saleing with my SIL and found this huge box of ties for a price I just couldn't pass up. Plus Al had many that he was no longer wearing. So I bought muslin and cut it into 18 inch squares and started ripping the ties apart. There were so many pieces - buckram or other stabilizers in the middle, silk inserts on both ends, wonderful patterns. The quilt took me from 1991 until 2004 to finish . . . I didn't work on it much. I cut and sewed the pieces on one by one in whatever pattern worked . . . (that is, NO pattern).
  8. Just saw your message about the portfolios I made the girls for Christmas. Would you believe that Miss Rita (5 YO) came to me with hers around the end of March and told me I needed to refill it for her. "But, this time put candy inside instead of paper, okay?"

    Hi Jan,

I haven't had time to read the daily string lately, so you may have already updated us and I missed it. But I was just wondering how Emily and the whole family is fairing these days. I continue to hold you all in my prayers.

    Hugs,
    Nancy
