Well, The book only gives a single block and shows it as shaded areas of a grid...like if I were designing a block on graph paper. I would have to enlarge it and then I'd be on my own to put it together. There are no instructions. I don't think it will be terribly hard, but I just need to think about the easiest way to to sew all the pieces together. That's okay...I love a challenge.

Yay! Mimi, I found "Trees in the Park!" I have a book called The New Quilting and Patchwork Dictionary that I bought back in the 80's and I found it in there! I love that quilt so I've put it on my list of quilts to make. Thanks for sharing your Mom's quilts with us. Hugs.

Thanks for the comment on the patriotic teddy bear fabric. To tell you the truth I can't remember where I got it. But since I have never bought online I can say it had to have been either Joanne's or Wal-Mart and at least 11 or 12 years ago. I wish I had a few yards of it and I would send you a yard, but I don't. At the time I was making little girl dresses for a friend's daughter to start Kindergarten. If I come across any like it or similar I will try to snatch it up and then let you know I have it.

Pat, Your quilts are so pretty. I really like the bright colors w/dots and the purple & turquoise quilt. Beautiful work!

Hi Pat, thanks for your kind comments. There originally was a machine on the table, but I pulled it to bits to try and fix it, and needlesss to say it stayed in bits. I love the table - spent many hours rust ridding it and painting it in a high gloss black. The topper is hand pieced, it was an ongoing project for many years and I only just decided I had the right place for it, so finished it and I added the lace, think it works well.

Pat, I just needed to come in here and tell you how much I enjoy looking through your Gallery. The Lone Star journey has been a delight. But I love all your work and soooo admire your quilting. Beautiful, beautiful!

I just made a jelly roll quilt out of that fabric, it didn't toot my horn either, but it will go with my living room! I love the strong colors, but my basic decor is sage green. That doesn't really go with pink, purples and turquoise!

I love your halfhex quilt pattern. I'm curious where you got the fabric. I found that fabric at Tuesday morning, and thought it might have originally come from Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby.

About Mimis-quilts
Biography:
My mother loved to make and give away quilts and my sister loved to make them as well, however they are both gone and I am trying to carry on the tradition. I watched my mother make many quilts and learned to make them by watching her. I only really started "getting into" making them about 4 years ago when my first grandchildren (twin boys) were about to join the family. I made them crib quilts and have since made 5 more baby quilts, 2 wall hangings and I am presently handquilting a queen size quilt. I love to make quilts and I hope to learn more about this beautiful expression of art from this site.
Location:
Bedford Indiana
Interests:
Quiltmaking, boating, fishing, spending time with my hubby & of course my 6 wonderful grandchildren
Occupation:
RN on a busy Oncology Unit
