Cool Community Support For Tutorials - Calling all quilting volunteers

    Nancy Bird writes -

I love your site, love your ideas, love the concept of tutorials, BUT...

there are still people using dial-up, and satellite internet. Dial-up users cannot access videos, because of the slow speeds, and satellite internet has download limits. Is there any way you could publish tutorials as text/pictorial files for those of us who cannot use the videos?

I know I would really appreciate it!

    Thanks,

    Nancy
I think she makes a good point, it would be cool to have an accompanying pattern/printable sheet to go along with each tutorial. I think fabric requirements then a step by step walk through would be good? Do we need more? What do you think?

So here is what I'd like to ask of the MSQC Community - Will you join in the effort to make printable / readable versions of our video tutorials!? If you can make them and maybe post them here, or email them to the YSGLCG (he doesn't know I'm volunteering him for this yet, but he'll love it - admin[at]missouriquiltco.com) and he can make them into pdf's and such, then we'll attach them to the videos and tutorials pages so people with slow connections or that want to follow along can? Any volunteers?

I think if you could watch the video and just write down steps, that should be enough. So do as much or as little as you have time, any little bit helps.

Just post up which one you're doing so that others don't grab it and I'll cross them off the list as we go. Also, recruit your friends to help, it's a good cause

    I never sleep. LOL...

What I did (and it may help it not seem so daunting to others) is plugged in my headphones and listened to the video while I transcribed what Jenny is saying. Then I went back and reworded it so that it's easier to understand without looking at anything. That way, when people are reading the directions they should be able to understand what is being explained for each step without the benefit of watching anyone do it.

A local quilt shop around here did the pillowcase tutorial in written form, but I honestly NEVER understood how to do it until I saw Jenny's tutorial.
I would be willing to write some of those tutorials if it's still needed. LOVE LOVE LOVE the tutorials on YouTube!

Count me in.. I will have a go at the Ironing board (no 24 on list), Garden of Eden quilt (no 6 on list) and the Nicey Jane table runner (no 11 on list). Once I have sent you these, if ok then I would be more than happy to do more. I am no longer working due to health reasons so have the time to go through those that others don't want to so. Just let me know.

Only me again. I have had a go at the Nicey Jane table runner, but as I have never done a tutorial like this would like feedback before I carry on with any more. However, I have done the tutorial in Powerpoint and don't know how I can turn it into something I can post here? Help!!!
