    Default Quilting Day

I started quilting around 10:30 today and stopped at 90. Went to the class that my sis and I are taking. Cutting the fabric happens at home and we do the sewing there. It's a sampler quilt and log cabin blocks separate the main blocks. The directions for making the log cabin was soooo confusing! The instructor should me how to read the instructions and we put the block together. NO easy task.Example: Shape "A" needs color "C and "K". So find "A" in "C" and "A" in "K". Do 12 of these and then change their order. : P Here's what I've done so far.

Coleen, I love your choice of fabrics. You certainly have an eye for color...I,was once told that the log cabin is one of the harder blocks to,do.mmmm To keep track of,the order of the fabrics, would it help to draw the block on paper, one sheet per block and then write the order of the strips on it, eg, color C, color K, etc? I get confused easily and find this helps..

Wow! That's going to be a stunner! The colors are great! At first I thought, "What the heck is she talking about?" When I saw the blocks I realized you're trying to have organization in the color choices. It's all about the colors and how they tie together with the other blocks. Have I got it right? Hopefully, now that you've got the first two done the other log cabins should be a breeze. Very nice Brook. How did you manage to work on it for that many hours? I can only handle a few hours at a time. Oh right! You look about 30 years younger than me? Hahaha!

That is going to be gorgeous. I hate confusing directions, they make me feel so stupid.

Can't wait to see the finished quilt.

Log cabins are beginner's blocks. I never found them hard or confusing. Just put your light strips on a table side by side by ascending in values, and repeat for the darks. After cutting the center block, just start adding the strips chain piecing and cutting the strip even after multiple blocks have been sewn. Two same color light strips, two same color dark. In any case, you did an outstanding job on all of your blocks, and I love the colors.

Laying the strips down wasn't the problem. Each length had a template size that were identified with a Letter. The different sizes was found on multiple fabric colors. The fabrics were also given letters. Template "A" was not fabric"A". The cut for template "A" was found in fabric "K". Template "A" was also for fabric "C". etc.....
