    Default Grandson

LOL, My 10 yo grandson was here this past weekend and I showed him the quilt I was thinking about making for him. To my surprise, he liked it. I decided to try the next step to see if he had certain colors that he liked. I should have stopped with the first question. "I like blue and green.........and red..........and yellow...........the whole rainbow!" YIKES!

So today I went to Jo Ann's to see the options I had with that array. 3 HOURS later, I came away with some really wild fat quarters. These are not the colors I think of when putting a quilt together. I may still look for a jelly roll to do the job, because I need a mixture of plains and solids. The pattern I'm aiming for is called Bento Box. It looks like a fun one to make. : )

Aren't grand-kids the best! I love mine! Since Ashleas' quilt the littlest one has been saying, "You better make me a quilt". But at least they each have a favorite color. Anyway good luck on your quilt for your grandson and Happy Quilting!

Grandkids are the best! When my grandson was 7, I took him with me to our local quilt shop. The lady there sat him down at one of their wonderful embroidery machines and let him pick out a pattern that he would like to do. He picked out a tennis shoe pattern. The lady helped him with the threading of the machine and he picked out the colors. He chose all rainbow colors , to my suprise it turned out cute. She took the piece of cloth and added his name to it. She then squared it up for him and he has it in a picture frame in his room. That was a great adventure for him and he was so proud of what he had done. He is almost 11 now and still has it hanging in his room.lol

I made a 90 x 105 Bento Box quilt for my college-age son -- I was surprised that he wanted to choose the fabric colors -- he went with dark blue, dark grey, black, and white -- it turned out really nice. My husband says it looks like a BMW logo I'm sure your grandson will love his quilt.

Shirley, I was looking at that very fabric. It's even in my shopping cart. I love the bright colors but I wanted to see if I could find some with a pattern on them. Thanks : )
