I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
Just decided to free motion my first quilt got up enough nerve to do it and started. It was going great and it looked great I was so excited. Then all of a sudden my machine wouldn't auto thread and broke some needles, all was okay with feed dogs and so on so, I knew that the machine had something wrong with it.
I mean is there anything worse than having your machine sent back to Babylock, it doesn't even leave the shop until this Wednesday to hit the shop in Missouri then will be in the shop for two weeks or maybe if I'm lucky one week!
Being machine less so to say is like being naked without a quilt!!!!

Hello Angelof 7! I hear ye loud and clear... When mine's in the shop, I yank out my really basic machine and keep going... There has to be something you can do til your's gets back. Perhaps cutting fabric for more projects!!!! With the needles breaking, perhaps a piece lodged itself in the bobbin area. Lucky you to have a baby lock, a friend has one and loves it! Laughed out loud when reading your naked without a quilt analogy... Hahahah.
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
I would rather live without my vacum cleaner than my sewing machine!
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
Oh you gals are too funny! With three kitties, two being long haired, I think visitors think we don't own a vacuum!!! I can tell ya that sewing comes WAAAAYYYYYY before cleaning...
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
I would go insane without my machine, and it is just a basic machine with some decorative stitches. Would love to have fancier one, but DD and DGK's always come first. Looking at one that won't break the bank, but has a lot of features of the more high dollar ones. Thinkin' it wouldn't hurt to have a spare.
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
At the beginning of the year, I was rushing to get a baby quilt done. In the middle of piecing, my Janome started making a clanking noise. I stopped sewing immediately and took it to the shop the next day. That evening, I pulled out my back up machine and the first seam I started to sew is when all h#ll broke loose! The machine stopped advancing the fabric and then accelerated to a speed faster than I have ever seen it do! I had to unplug it to make it stop. I was without a sewing machine for over a week and I didn't know what to do with myself! I can't imagine being without a sewing machine for longer than that!
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
Oh how awful. Well you will have to check in daily to get a pep talk from us. I can't even imagine...how terrible (LOL). I didn't sew for the last two weeks and I was having severe withdrawals.
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
I think I need to go shopping for a back-up machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
Oh do I ever feel your pain. I was without my machine for a good long month or better the first part of this year. Withdrawal was the hardest thing for me to go through. My Babylock is still not perfect, I should call them about it but then, I don't want to be without it again. Sigh.
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
I know how you feel. I can't hardly wait till next month when I will be able to buy a new machine. The one my neighbor is letting me use does straight stitch-forward and reverse-that's it. But I am at least sewing a few Super 9 patch baby quilt tops together. I should be doing some hand sewing on another quilt but, I just can't seem to work myself up to hand sew.
I hope you can find a friend that has a machine you can borrow until your's is fixed.
Re: I feel Naked without my machine wouldn't YOU!
Boy do I know the feeling, was without mine for almost 2 weeks, severe withdrawals.
what did I do.. some hand piecing.. lol.. and some quilting and plotting and planning.. and I wonder why I am in the predicament I am in now..
