Cool Fantastic finds at the thrift store!!!

There is a LARGE thrift store ran by a church mission organization and a Salvation Army thrift store in my town. I check them weekly...the mission one has 25% off entire store on Wednesday..the SA has odd sales at times unadvertised..you just have to go in and see. I have located the "fabric" area in both stores and check them weekly on Saturdays and wednesdays,

Today was a great day at the mission store...$2.99 and I got 2 yards each of 2 different pink floral prints, 1 yard each of 2 blue calicos, and 1 yard each of a maroon and rust colored calicos. 8 yards for $3..can't beat that! And I can tell from the wrinkles, they are 100% cotton. Yesterday I went to the SA one and got 4 yards of a pink floral print for $4...buck a yard. And all of them are the perfect colors and prints for quilting and I have ideas for them all! I have been wanting to try new techniques and cuts but didn't have enough of anything to really match right, so now I do..bow tie and hour glass.. here I come! And 9 patches and stars!

So moral of the story..check your local thrift store for fabric! There are quite a few independent thrift stores in town to, but I haven't had the time to inspect them yet and I don't think they'd have the fabric options like these two do,b ut one of these days when I can stop quilting, and stop discussing here and stop looking at all the blogs and sites for free patterns and ideas...I'll get to the indy ones!

I am impressed with your bargains! Can't beat those prices. So happy for you that you found workable fabric and colors that go together. Can't wait to see your new creations. How come I never find those deals?????

I have had to stop myself from buying the fabric bundles at my local thrift stores - quite often it is deceiving as to what is contained in their bags - I've been stung several times - but that doesn't keep me from picking them up and looking. Usually about a 5-8 pound bundle runs about $5.
    Be warned. I am BORED.
    This could be dangerous.

When you get cold just go stand in the corner.
    They are usually 90 degrees.

A giraffe's coffee would be cold by the time it reached the bottom of his throat.
Ever think about that? No? You only think about yourself??

Love, love, love thrift stores and garage sales. You just never know what you are going to find. Paid 25 cents for copper bowl, and turned out to be vintage candy making bowl and sold it for $75. Wish I had time to do that again.

Well, once that happened to me until I figured it out. They use a gallon zip loc bag...roll the fabric and fill as much as they can and then they tape the zipper closed so it can't be opened, so it is hard to see what kind of fabric it is. I can usually tell if it is double knit, cordoroy or denim, but sometimes not if it is a cotton/blend. So sometimes, I just dont take the chance, but today.. I could tell it was cotton so I got it.Was surprised at how much was in it!

Oh lucky lady!!! We don't have anything around here like that. Two fabric stores that are priced to kill and nothing at the Value Village or Salvation Army stores. Good for you!

Like you I to never find deals like this. I just left a bag containing fabric and pattern worth about 30.00 on top of my car because I was in a hurry and drove off. When I noticed it I went back looking for it an no such luck. Well that's a lesson learned. If you have a bundle in your hand do not forget the smallest one, check on top before driving off.
I am gonna be a quilter when I grow up.
