    Default Is this too feminine?

So, I'm making this quilt for an adult male - he's 51 and a serious musician (church organist, choir director, director of music kinda guy). I took some of the photos tonight, so the colors in the brighter photos are more accurate. The middle photo is a close up of the fabric I used to make the huge applique - it's roughly 24" tall!! The darker photos show the quilt top on my queen size bed.

I'm just nervous because I showed it to my brother (the quilt is for his partner) and he said it was "cute.." ugh.

Should I continue with my plan to gift this to Michael, or make something else?

I will tread softly as it was your brother who said it was "cute." I think guys say cute when they don't know what else to say. They think gals want cute. I do not think this quilt is cute. I think it is wonderful and shows that you put a lot of effort into the design and the selection of fabrics. I am sure that Michael will be thrilled.

Words are so confusing. I have two dd's. One is pretty and one is cute according to people. What does that mean? It's all in peoples heads. I think it's handsome!

I think it is a beautiful quilt and very appropriate for a man. Really beautiful and I am sure he will love it.

Well your bro would be the best judge did you tell him it was for his partner? Some people don't like stuff like thiz even if it is in their field. My DH is a lawyer and absolutely hates anything cute, lawyer knicknacks, jokes, framed pictilures or cartoons, xmas ornaments. I finally had to be flat out honest with my Mom who was buying all this supposedly cute stuff for him every year which he actually hated.

When I made it, I would not have used the word "cute" to describe it. I thought it looked cool and visually interesting. My brother is an artist, so I was taken back a bit when that's the word he picked. He also said he thought Michael would love it, but I'm concerned at this point. I don't want it to come across as silly. I am also a musician (I have three piano CDs out there) and I like it but I'm also a girl ;-)

I dont see feminity in the quilt
I think a man or woman could use it on their bed
    I think it's gorgeous
