Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!
I BOUGHT IT!!!!!!
I'm going to take some time tomorrow and go through it and clean and oil where necessary. I tested her out - seems like she runs well. I didn't have to worry about the bobbin cover - there was a bag with feet (including a ruffler...), needles, bobbins, etc. and the bobbin cover was thereEverything looks great electrically, and she has a knee lever! I'll post pics tomorrow. Thanks, guys for the input - I'd say it is $15 very well spent

Oh, Leah . . . we hooked another one!!
NOVINOPHOBIC
You are about to exceed the limits of my medication.
Woohoo! And if you figure out how to use the ruffler, you can let me know! Mine came with all kinds of crazy feet that I will probably never learn to use. I'm just not excited enough about ruffles & pleats to figure it out.

It appears to be a 15.
Singer Sewing Machines 15, 15K, 15N and derived variations
They have the thread tension dial coming off the front end like yours does. Beautiful machine too! Congrats to both you and Songbird on the beautiful new additions!!
And I'm with Claire.... mine came with all kinds of wicked looking attachments too. If you figure out how to use them let us know!

There should be a serial number on the right, just behind the spool for threading the bobbin. Then Google "Singer serial numbers" and you'll find a website that tells you what model it is and what year it was made. The manuals are available for download free -- don't remember where -- but it was easy to find.
That's a nice-looking cabinet! Mine is trashed -- shabby chic paint, in brown. Not a good choice!
YAY!!!!!
Congrats to songbird and Libby - beautiful machines. I will find one of those deals someday.
