Hi, can anyone tell me how many 5" Dresdens can be cut from
a jelly roll? I'm making a king size quilt, of the Spring Dresden quilt and wanted to know if I needed more then one jelly roll.
Thanks....

Are they 5" long and cut right from the strip? If so you can get 8 blades from each strip and aren't there 40 strips in a jr? Well I thought I knew what I was talking about but now I'm lost. Hopefully somebody will come along soon for you.
8 x 40 = 320 ÷ 20 = 16 Dresden plates from a jelly roll.
So in order to make a king size quilt, I'll need two jelly rolls, with obvious fabric left over, one jelly roll won't be enough
Here's the tutorial
https://youtu.be/Tl8aXceggwU
according to the tutorial the quilt that is behind Jenny in the video is 68"x78" which is a little bit smaller than a twin size quilt.
Jenny says to make the quilt behind her you need :
1 pk ( layer cake ) 10" squares ( solids)
1 pk of 5" squares ( a charm pack ) (solid ..she used a green colored charm pack )
1 pk of 2 1/2" strips ( a jelly roll ) ( this is 42 2 1/2" strips.
You also need 5 yds of Heat and Bond
While I don't know what or how much you would need to make a King Size Quilt....I am excited to see if someone on the forum can spell it out for you !
My dresden template says a 5 inch dresden will make a circle 12 1/2 inches in diameter and they recommend a 14 inch block. You will have 8 blocks across and 8 blocks down which gives you a quilt size of 112 x 112 (minus seams). One jelly roll is enough if don't make any mistakes. All you need is background yardage and yardage for the centers of the plates.
Extra strips could be used for the binding.
Ok so two jelly rolls?
2 jelly rolls it'll be...thank you
