We are our own worst critics. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with yours, they look great.

Claire, your blocks are great....scrap quilting at it's best! Isn't a class with Bonnie Hunter great? I hope she comes back to my area someday.

Claire, I love your blocks! Bonnie's scrappy is a learning curve. Like you, I used to hesitate a lot before risking some fabrics together. Due to my limited sewing space, her scraps user system is a great help. It's almost a year since I started storing my fabric in strips, and using them! I would keep them by colors within each size, and separated "true neutrals" from "Bonnie neutrals".

A few weeks ago, when I decided to make Bonnie's pattern "Jamestown landing" I found out I wouldn't have variety enough if I was using only "true neutrals", so after a lot of thought I started making string blocks out of "Bonnie neutrals" that have oranges, blues, greens and all kinds of dark hues against a light background. When I first looked at the finished units I thought, no way this is going to work together. There will never be contrast enough with the blue/neutral HST's. But I put a bunch of units on my design kitchen table and took a pic with my phone. I could not believe how that changed completely. It DOES work.

(And let me add I am green, green, green with envy that you could attend a class with Bonnie!)

Lourixe, it was great. You would love it. And I bet Bonnie would love your string blocks too.

Claire... what a fabulous experience.. so happy you could make it!! I love ALL of those posted on the website... yours was the "bright"??? Each and every one of those has such personality...Bonnie seems like such a great gal to spend time with... In the same vein as Jenny.. speaks from the heart! GB
Oh, and let me add that YOURS is my favorite.. being a scrappy gal.. and when i see it the blue and brown predominate (two of my favorites together)... this is a winner!!! Please post when it's finished and quilted..)
