Put the binding down, and walk away!
This binding is driving me mad. I had to make myself walk away from it for a day or two. I'm trying the faux flange binding, it looks fantastic and was so easy. Until I went to join the ends. Every time I sew them together the flange doesn't meet up. I figure it can take two more tries before the fabric shreds. The only thing I can figure is that I was overtired and my hands were weak and shaky. Wish me luck when I try again!
Re: Put the binding down, and walk away!
Would it help to glue baste it first?
Re: Put the binding down, and walk away!
That sounds like an excellent idea. I must try that myself.
Re: Put the binding down, and walk away!
Good idea, I would do that too. I would glue the corners too,so they match up. I only made a mug rug but it helped
Re: Put the binding down, and walk away!
Forgive me: What's a faux flange binding?

Ooh! That's a great idea, thank you, I've wanted to try glue basting. Pins and my stiletto were not helping, something would slip anyhow.
This binding is so cute, I'd like to do all my binding like this from now on. I think it's just me and an off day. It shouldn't be too hard to line up when not trying to do it at midnight ;)
Thanks for the link, Lorie, yes that's the faux flange. Whomever thought that up was very clever indeed!
Re: Put the binding down, and walk away!
When I did this binding, I chickened out and did it straight instead of at an angle. I did press the seams open to reduce some of the bulk.

I did that too:) but it was a mug rug and it was hard to leave all that slack in such a short space.
