Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
I think you are just too close to this. So, put it on a slow boat with my name on it. I'm in love with it - but have been.
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
It is just great! You did a great job!
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
I like it........the variegated thread shows up pretty on the black fabric. :)
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
I think it looks great - as all your quilts do! You have such an eye for color and design.
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
Annika... your FMQ is wonderful,, i think you , like me are finding the "loops" the easiest for you... It is my comfort zone.. your loops look a lot better than some of mine...:))
I have one suggestion that worked for me... try doing your loops with one looping up, then the next looping down, it's a motion that comes pretty natural and makes the whole thing look pretty professional!!!! I love this quilt... especially the pattern and colors.... Hugs, GB
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
Finished is better than perfect.
Here are some thoughts that are meant to be constructive. If you truly have no FMQ stitching at all in the star I would be concerned about uneven shrinkage when the quilt is washed. That is a huge change in quilting density. You might want to check what the batting recommends for the minimum spacing. Adding an echoed triangle inside the pinwheels would solve that problem, and add some interesting contrast to all the curves. I bet that pebbles in the plus signs looks awesome. I love the texturing of peebles but use it sparingly as it takes me such a long long time. My eye is drawn to the variagted thread in the loop do loops which makes it even harder to see the lovely peeble texture.
Did you know you can put cling wrap on your quilt and draw on the cling wrap to audition FMQ designs? That way you can try it before you make a commitment.
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
I like it. It's a great pattern and I like it in the colors you used.
No help with the quilting.... for me, the actual quilting is always the most difficult part of any project.
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
I think it's stunning. It's not what I'd normally pick on my own (pattern or colors) but it works beautifully and I love it :-)

Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
I don't see anything wrong with that! It's fun. Kinda Halloweenie!
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
Thank you all for you kind words and for looking
Re: FMQ done on orange quilt
It is pretty! I think sometimes when we've been working on/looking at a quilt for a long time it can sometimes look bad to us. That's happened to me before. I put the quilt away for a while and when I take it out it looks much better.
