I have that iron also and it is really good for the size. When I don't need a large iron yet, I use it to iron seams as I piece next to my machine. It was a good investment.

I made my own cover for the TV tray. I had a nice set of trays--wooden and sturdy that were just collecting dust in the closet--so I pulled one out and first sprayed the top with some adhesive--505--then laid a piece of 100% cotton batting on top. I overlapped the batting on the sides, then took a piece of canvas or you could use 100% cotton fabric and laid it on top of the batting and then using a staple gun stapled it on the underside. It is very taut and at some point I can either take it off and replace the cover or add another piece over the top. From start to finish took less than an hour. It would have taken me longer than that to drive to a store to purchase a cover. I have seen a big difference in my seam pressing now that I am using the TV tray. PS I have a lovely imprint of the travel iron on the top of the canvas as I forgot to stand the iron upright. I had gotten to use to the regular pop-up iron!!!
I just started quilting, so only have my fabric for that project. No extra stash to pull from, so I'd have to buy fabric, batting, etc and then come home and complete the project.I went ahead and ordered a table board already covered and the SteamFast iron. Until they arrive I'll just use my big iron and board.

That was a good find. Looks well made too!

Well, that's clever... but... it's only 9 inches wide. That is the only problem.
Oh and that iron Karen has was the DD just a few DD's ago... Bummer..
I love my panasonic cordless. Can't say anymore about that. As for the ironing mat for tray table..I would have used that as one of my first quilted projects and made my own..but thats me. It would definitely last longer being made by you and you could make washable covers to change out on it.
Iris Girl = April = fabric, Fabric FABRIC!!

I've "upholstered" a desk chair and a ramp for my dog and loathe the stretching, stapling, trying to get it to lay perfectly. lol. The quilt I'm making has 10.5" squares, so it should work for all of my smaller piecing. I can use my normal board for the seams from attaching the squares together.

WOODEN SPOON SURVIVOR
There's this called an ironing blanket. You could pin elastic to hold it to a tray.

I need one - I put it on the counter under the electric griddle.
I recently got the Steamfast Travel Iron too, and I love it. I don't have the longevity with it the rest of you do, but so far it is working for me. I seem to remember it was the daily deal not too long ago, so M* is unlikely to feature it soon.
