Default My math brain took a hike.

I am working on my first on point lay out. I get to the two center rows. When I try to line them up they do not line up. I count the blocks and everything seems fine. So I repin. Still not aligning I lay it on the floor. One of the setting triangles is wrong. So I rip it out and re sew. Still no. I recount, I'm missing a blocks on one of the rows. So I rip out the setting triangle again and put in the block. But it still doesn't line up. I sewed the triangle on the wrong way again. 45 minutes just sewing two rows together! I need a cup of tea and a cookie.

I'm no expert, but when I'm laying out a quilt on point I lay the whole thing out on a bed. Then,I start withthe longest rows. Once I get thee rows put ttogether, I put the set in triangles. I put the rows together one half then the other.
    Hope that helps.

Wonder clips to the rescue. Line the rows up like KPH says, put the setting triangle where it needs to go then carefully clip it to the block it's getting sewed to with the red side of the W.C. on the top (where you can see it) holding the two sides together to be sewed. Before sewing together don't remove clip but flip and peek to make sure you didn't line up the wrong edges again. Good luck. You can do this!!

Maybe this will help. I usually lay out the blocks on my bed and I admit that I have to tilt my head sideways to see my rows. Don't ask me why, I just do. LOL Then pin or clip your rows together. It always blows my mind and seems unnatural that my rows are on the diagonal. Be sure that you use the corner size triangles (which are smaller) on just the four outside corners. All the other setting triangles will be larger. If you get one mixed up, it leads to headaches! Once you do it right, you'll always be able to set your blocksd on point with no problem.

IF you have room for this....it helps a lot.......$25.00 well spent. It helps me a lot when deciding where to place my blocks as I go!
