Been there. I have fabric bins I use for projects in progress and stack them. I put the extra fabrics and anything like binding strips in there so I can find them when the time comes. Then I just have to figure out which bin because there is never just one thing in progress!

I had one quilt that I cut binding for 3 times. I finally found the 2nd binding I cut but never have found the 1st one.

Or when the sewing area is a mess so you clean it up, then can remember exactly where everything was before you cleaned up but have no idea where it is now.

I hope you find it. I like to hand my tops with the backs, and put the prepped binding in a ziploc bag and cut a slit to hang it over the hanger so they are all together.
