Repurposed Ruler Holder

I enjoyed reading the recent thread 'quilting hacks' because it was loaded with loads of good ideas and pictures. I had a plate rack in the garage that used to hold decorative plates in our living room. It now hangs on the wall in the sewing room and holds some of my rulers, especially the long ones. There are 19 rulers on it so far, with room for more. I had to hang it at a height to avoid covering the light switch. Now to find a new home for the thread rack that used to hang there! It will involve wall anchors so I think I will have Jeff help me with it.

What a fantastic idea - I may look for one of these at the goodwill. It seems my ruler stash is growing; I just bought the jaybird quilt hex n more ruler last week

Nice! I was just telling boy to hang some nails on the wall so I can put up my rulers. Now next time I hit up a thrift store I'm looking for plate racks!

I have 2 different sized lid holders that I use for my rulers. The large one is for the larger Creative Grids rulers. It sets on the floor next to my cutting table within easy reach. (I don't have wall or door space for hanging things.) The smaller lid rack I recently bought at Target for $7.99. I use it for my smaller rulers & all the templates I'm collecting. It's also nearby within easy reach of the cutting table, but not on the floor.

What a great idea! Very organized. I have been trying to figure out a way to store mine and now I have one!

Also another idea I want to do: I was in a quilt store the other day and she was using an over the door shoe holder with see thru pockets to display jelly rolls. I am definitely using that idea too! It could be used for many other things other than jelly rolls and is not expensive to do!!

JCY, I love your idea. I have very few walls, especially in the sewing room because one whole wall are my fabric cabinets. Real estate in that room is scarce. I had to relocate a thread rack to hang up the plate hanger for the rulers.

Perfect idea! I put up a peg rack to hang my rulers; works great if my kids would quit messing with them.
