    Default First trip to Paducah

I know you are all probably tired of Paducah stories but this was my first trip so I hope I'll be forgiven.
My friend Kerry and I went up to Grand Rivers KY on Friday. It was the only place I could find the had rooms for only 2 nights. Turns out the local guild has their own quilt show on Friday and Saturday. It was in their community center and some of those quilts rivaled the ones we saw on Saturday at the Paducah show. So if you can't go for a long stay I recommend Grand Rivers, the drive isn't bad at all to Paducah.
Friday we also took in the Quilt Museum in Paducah. So many awesome quilts. One that Kerry couldn't get over was a huge quilt made of quarter sized hexies.
Saturday was our day for the show. It wasn't as crowded as the other reports make earlier in the week sound. I over heard some vendors saying that Saturdays were always slow.
Anyway like everyone else said tons of beautiful quilts. I can't wait for the Chattanooga show.
I was surprised by all the tour buses from all over.
Hancocks of Paducah was worth the visit but like another poster said there didn't seem to be a method to the madness of how stuff was organized for the fabric.
So my suggestions are to go if you haven't. Maybe wait until Saturday to beat the crowd and stay in Grand Rivers.
    Take care,
    Susan

I was on one of those tour buses. I guess it was the first time ever that I was on a bus with a bathroom! The ability to leave the driving to someone else was wonderful for me, but having to follow their schedule was a drawback.

Glad you enjoyed it - and thanks for the heads up about Chattanooga, I didn't know they had one. Might be another road trip!

Glad that you had fun, too! It was also my first time and it wasn't too crazy on Saturday, so I am glad that I missed the big crowds. i was afraid that Saturday would be the biggest day.

That hexi quilt at the museum was just amazing, but I also loved the miniature quilts - especially the double wedding ring one!

Thanks for this post, Susan. I've been to Paducah many times but never for the show because I don't care of large crowds.
