Default My first trip to Paducah

My dh and I drove to Paducah on Friday. Got there late enough in the day that we did not go to the quilt show on Friday, but went to Hancock's of Paducah instead. Extreme overload! It was arranged by designer/fabric company, so was a little confusing at first and definitely is a warehouse feel. Lots of beautiful quilts hanging around and quilt kits available for all of them. I have quite a bit of fabric already and didn't have a project in mind, so I just got a half yard of fabric with hancock's of paducah and their website on it. Thought it would be fun as a neutral in one of my Bonnie Hunter quilts.

Went to the quilt show on Saturday morning - absolutely stunning work and I truly feel like a kindergartner with finger paints when I compare my quilts to those. I may never make a quilt that will be entered into a quilt show like that and I am ok with that - my quilts are meant to be loved and dragged around.

Here are some pics - some are close ups that my dh wanted for ideas for stained glass projects. It was crowded enough that it was sometimes hard to get pics and I kind of gave up on pics and just enjoyed looking at all of the details.

Almost missed the big bubble building of vendors right next to the show. I got some leader grips for my long arm - just got the side clamp ones for now, but if I like them, I will be getting them for loading the quilts onto the frame too.

I got a show special at the Martelli booth - a large cutting mat, cutter and ruler are being shipped to my house. Was very tempted by the cutting table that lifts and tilts, but I would rather do an upgrade to my long arm computer which is much cheaper than the table.

We did miss the 2nd floor of the show and another building of vendors - I found them last night in the booklet at the hotel room. Wish I had looked at that booklet sooner!

We also went antiquing and wandered through the Quilt in a Day warehouse shop. It was fun, but also overwhelming. My brain is so tired from all of the creative thoughts just running around in it!

I feel the same as you about my quilting skills but I also make mine to be loved and cuddled with. I feel that Paducah is a very lovely city and they did such a wonderful job to make all the people feel welcomed. I think I would enjoy a trip there just to see what all they have to offer.

Lisa - wish we could have met up but I'll bet by the time you got there we were on our way back to our hotel. Sounds as if we had the very same impressions.

    Good pictures you have shared.

Wow, I love that wave quilt and the bulldozer one is impressive. I can imagine needing several days to wander through all they have to see there.

Sandy, Rhonda and all - so sorry I didn't text to meet up - we weren't sure when we were going where and dh and I just wandered around..... would have loved to have met more forum friends.

M* is on my bucket list and it is about the same distance, so I think I can get it into the schedule at some point. Especially since I didn't buy any fabric - ok 1/2 yard, but that is like nothing, right? Hoping I can meet up with forum friends at M* at some point!

These were on a different camera and I took them just for Karen. Hope you enjoy - sorry I forgot them earlier.

Those are great. I saw the second one online a few days ago, can't even remember where right now.
