My take on Paducah

I also was at Paducah and it is just amazing. The group of ladies I was with had just a wonderful time. The quilts are stunning and the National Quilt Museum does have gorgeous quilts on display. The crowds can be a little over whelming but everyone is very friendly. I have the same take on Hancock's as Sandy, I find it just to mixed up. I think it was arranged some what by designer but it seems like no two colors or color values are put together.

I think if you ever have the chance to see a National Quilt Show somewhere, I do not think you would be disappointed just seeing all those beautiful quilts is worth the time. I hope to go back again next year or maybe the year after if it can be worked out in the time schedule.

One more thing, I had oh so much fun trying out all the different longarm quilting machines. I hope to have one someday. Thought
I was going to have a chance the have a used one last year but was not able to settle on a price with the seller.

You know, I sort of feel the same way about Hancock's of Paducah's web site too. It is just laid out weird to me. Maybe the same person designed the layout of the store.

Glad you had a chance to go and see things there.

Friday we finally made it inside the Pavillion (a giant bubble - anyone know if this is only set up for the show or if it's a permanent fixture?).



It's just there for the quilt show Sandy. They didn't plan on putting it back up but they didnt have a choice after the hotel plans fell through or got delayed. I agree with you about Hancocks. They are a bit pricey and the whole layout is very over whelming to me. A couple months ago I left a yard of fabric laying on the cutting table and had a couple more of different fabric. They were all on the same ticket. I paid not realizing I had left it laying. I didn't realize it until later that afternoon so I called up there to see if they put it back for me. The lady said nope nobody has turned it in. Then procedded to tell me "when that happens(like it does quite a bit) Mr Hancock has the girls put it back on the remnant shelf and it is resold". No refund. No I'm sorry. No Thank you's either.
They were kinda cold and rude. Not my favorite store either.

Loved your notes on the show! I took a bus down a couple of times, all I remember is how exhausted I was and how much my feet hurt! But I came home with goodies and got to hang with RHONDA !

Sorry Sandy, I didn't make it to Paducah this year due to other places packed into the weekend. When we went last year I wasn't real impressed with Hancock's but they had great sales in the back room. I didn't purchase any yardage but got several precuts at good prices. Did they have precut sales this year?

Since Paducah is only a three hour drive from here we are going to make a day trip to go to the quilt museum. It might be a little easier to get around when it isn't "quilt week". I'm really anxious to go after seeing all the great pictures you ladies have posted!

Sandy - I have been waiting for your update and so glad you found the deli (and now I am wishing I had their turkey bravo in front of me!) There sure is a lot to see and tons of people. Sorry you were disappointed with Hancocks -when I was there last year it was really organized despite all the quilt show traffic! Glad you had time with your sister and experienced Quilt Week first hand!
