    Default Fabric.com Beware!

I know there have been other posts lately about fabric.com, but I wanted to let others know of a change in their policy. I placed an order two weeks ago and by the time they filled my order, the 2 yards of one fabric only had a half yard left. I received an email to see if I wanted the half yard, which I did.

The order arrived yesterday and I was charged for 3/4 of a yard of the fabric. I called the company today and they said they have a new policy. They will cut half yard pieces, but the base price of the half yard cut is 50% more than the list price. i.e. if the fabric is $10 a yard, they figure the new price as $15 a yard and charge $7.50 for a half yard cut of a $10 fabric.

I explained that I originally ordered 2 yards, but they only had a half yard left and because they had not mentioned the higher price for half yard cuts in the email or on their website, I did not want this fabric. After consulting someone else, they said they would refund the money.

So unless you want to pay more than the list price for a half yard of fabric, it is better to order a yard.

I never ordered from them before. I don't like the first part where they wait so long to fill the order in the first place. Thanks for the warning, but I might steer clear of them.

Glad I live near Marshalls and can go lay hands on fabric before buying.

Funny...I was considering posting about how GREAT I found their customer service to be. I screwed up my order. They fixed it on the fly and got the correct yardage to me and couldn't have been nicer about it. They didn't have to do anything at all, because it was definitely my mistake. Shipping was quick, too. Sorry you had a negative experience.

I had a big issue with them as well and wrot to the head of Amazond and it was resolved to my satisfaction. But they do that a lot. You order and by time they get to your order they are out of some of your order. They also cut terrible and send it sloppy. I had one more order after that and have not ordered again. They raised all their prices. So I took them off my list.

Sorry you had to deal with that.

I have ordered from Fabric.com many many times and have never had problems.
I like to order from them because you only have to order $35 for free shipping.
But since they are now charging more for 1/2 yds that won't be happening any longer.
I think they are making a big mistake as soon as people recognize their orders cost
    more. It's a shame.

Sorry to hear this negative feedback. I've purchased from them many times over the past few years and never had any problems; however, I usually order a yard or more.

I did notice that the frequent shopper points will discontinue on June 10, 2015. Any points not used by that time will expire. Why? I earned the points by numerous purchases, now I'm given the choice of use them or lose them.

That is just a weird policy. I think more people would be happier if they just said 1 yard minimum order. It has been a long time since I ordered from fabric.com. I always had good luck with them, but it seemed like they never had what I wanted lately and their prices had gone up quite a bit.
