I know there have been other posts lately about fabric.com, but I wanted to let others know of a change in their policy. I placed an order two weeks ago and by the time they filled my order, the 2 yards of one fabric only had a half yard left. I received an email to see if I wanted the half yard, which I did.

The order arrived yesterday and I was charged for 3/4 of a yard of the fabric. I called the company today and they said they have a new policy. They will cut half yard pieces, but the base price of the half yard cut is 50% more than the list price. i.e. if the fabric is $10 a yard, they figure the new price as $15 a yard and charge $7.50 for a half yard cut of a $10 fabric.

I explained that I originally ordered 2 yards, but they only had a half yard left and because they had not mentioned the higher price for half yard cuts in the email or on their website, I did not want this fabric. After consulting someone else, they said they would refund the money.

So unless you want to pay more than the list price for a half yard of fabric, it is better to order a yard.
