Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
I was watching an Eleanor Burns video and she mentioned her new 1/4'' foot. It sits right on top of the feed dogs. I mentioned before that it felt like i was surfing. I can move the needle over, but this foot sounds like something to check into. Now to find it.

Can you post a link to that video? Thanks :icon_bigsmile:

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
Wow, I need that foot. Going to call my LQS to see if they have it.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
How sweet. Where did you ask for help? You ASKED if anyone had heard of it. I answered. You get rude. Love your mama, right?

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
Thanks SO much for posting this, Lorie. As a fellow Babylock owner, I am interested in this foot.

My machine is old and they must of redesigned recently. I was watching that video because it was pretty and I usually fast forward but caught that. Sure would make it easier won't it :)

Absolutely! I feel I am pretty good at maintaining a 1/4" seam - but still have the problem of the material catching in the feed dogs.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
Wonder if they make one for the Brother machines, mine does not rest on the feed dog so therefore the fabric doesn't feed thru without helping it along, or maybe I just have the wrong foot for the brother machine, on my janome the 1/4 foot works beautifully and I love it, so helpful for keeping those seams accurate. Thanks for posting the video

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
Lorie,, from what I can tell this isn't the same foot as in the video, but the one I bought is Item # ESG-QF "quilting or patchwork foot 1/4"". The one i have doesn't have the fabric guide along the edge. I hate it. It's only useful if you are piecing two layers of fabric, any more than that and you go skittering off the edge especially over seams. So avoid this one when you are shopping. ;)

Thanks so much! I emailed her webstite and left a question. The Babylock site gives no mention about feed dogs on any 1/4'' feet. Hope I get an answer!

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
Brother does make one.....it fits my Singer, which I bought it for, and also my Babylocks. It's a fabulous foot. I think it cost about $15.

this looks like the same one, but for Brother. Since Brother is made by Babylock it should fit

The 1/4" foot with flange for the Babylock does not work on my Babylock. I have the Babylock Espire. I bought two different feet and neither works. I wanted it for sewing jelly roll strips together. That seam line was very wonky. The best I could figure is that the feed dogs are at war with the foot.
Lori - thanks for posting that. Now I want to try one. Eleanor said in the video that the foot has been redesigned. That foot looked like it over lapped the feed dogs enough to keep the fabric from roaming! There's a dealer in town. I will go there next week and make sure I get the right one.
BTW, I talked to the dealer about the Brother machines looking so much like the Babylock. She said that they are different companies but that they use the same manufacturing plant to make the machines. I guess that would be like soft drink companies using the same bottling plant.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
One of the issues I have with the 1/4 inch foot is it has little hole. So you cant use it with anything but the straight stitch.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
Your welcome Vonnie:)
Thanks for all the links, but since she said it was redesigned I'm going to wait to see if they write back. I can't sew right now anyway. I'll post it if they do.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
The 1/4" with blade isn't new. I bought mine two years ago when I bought my Brother machine.
That said... It's the only foot I use when I need a 1/4". I love that thing. But as another poster said..it only has the small hole for the needle so you can't adjust for a scant or fat 1/4".

I know this type of foot isn't new. My machine is close to 8 yrs old and the video is from dec 14 and she said it was just redesigned.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
I don't know the part # on mine. I got it over three years ago and the packaging is long gone. If you need me to, I can run over to the shop in the next day or two. It's only a couple miles from my house. Just tell me the machine you want it for and I will check.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
Like Lorie said, I think the key thing here is it was redesigned to match the feed dogs. I have one for my Babylock, but it is barely on the right fed dog which cause my fabric to not go straight. So I stopped using it. Actually I put it on my Viking for my granddaughter to use and it works better there. So I am hoping there is a redesigned one. Going to my LQS next Saturday to check.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
I could do with one of those feet.
I have a couple of different 1/4 in. ones, and yes, my fabric skitters with the right side feed dogs.
I now resort to using my regular sewing foot and moving my needle to get the scant 1/4.
I have a Babylock but find the same feet at the Brother dealer and they're a lot less.
I will pop into my Brother store and see what they have.

Only if you need to go there :) I would call my shop but the only person that knows about the machines is the manager. It's her day's off right now.

Re: Do you know about this Babyloot foot?
Lorie - I went by my Babylock dealer and nobody had heard of the problem! I told them about how wonky my seams were and no matter how slow I went it would be totally wonky.
They did not have the foot but ordered it for me. It came in yesterday. And guess what!? It works! The guide is not on the edge of the foot. But the foot covers the feed dogs! Yea! I just finished sewing two jelly roll strips together and got a perfect 1/4" straight seam.
Thanks Lorie for telling us about this. A lot of people think all the 1/4" feet with guide work the same on all the machines. But for some reason, the feed dogs on certain Babylocks just grab the fabric and twist it. Very annoying. With the foot extending over the feed dogs it solves the problem.
Thanks again Lorie!

Oh good! I'm so happy you found it. I called my shop and she has them now too. At first she didn't understand and then explained that there are two feet. She didn't know about the redesign, but got why they are different. Mystery solved.:)
