oh my. We have it all on this forum! Do a search here and check out the posts on new machines. From hand-me-downs, treadles, used, new, top of the line, mid arm and long arm machines - someone on this forum has one.

Are you looking for a machine? If so, what are you wanting to do with it? just piece, quilt, sew garments, embroider, etc?

I already have a machine, a Husquavarna Viking but have an opportunity to upgrade it, so was just wondering what others had and liked.

Welcome from Brighton, NY. I would recommend that you list the features you would like and the price point you are comfortable with and then try out all the machines to find the brand and machine that you like best. We are very lucky here in that we have dealers for all the brands in the area.

Sew Creative, Fairport - sells Pfaff and Babylock. My favorite place. I have two Pfaff sewing machines and a Babylock serger I have bought from Lisa in the past 18 months.
Patricia's Fabric House, Piano Works, East Rochester - sells Elna.
The Bobbin Case, Twelve Corners, Brighton - sells Bernina. She only sells machines and thread. No fabric.
Discount Sewing, W. Ridge Road, Rochester - sells Brother and maybe now Janome since the quilt shop in Webster closed last year. He may also sell Juki. I don't shop in this store often so not sure.

There is a repair shop in Penn Yan that sells previously owned machines. A friend of mine got a Bernina from him and is very pleased with it. It is run by the Mennonites. A bit of a hike but might be worth the drive.

I cannot recommend any of the Viking stores in the area that are in JoAnn stores. I had a Viking previously and did not receive good service from these stores, especially the one in Webster. It is a long story. I would be happy to share if you would like.

Good luck in your search. A new machine is so fun.
    Ann
