    Default Newby Questions

I just inherited a Viking Mega Quilter and Inspira frame from my Mother in Law. It was all new in the box. I have everything set up and ready to go. Wow, that was a bigger job than I anticipated. Anyway to my question. What type of thread should I use on the Mega Quilter? Does it need to be a cone? Also, the Machine was new but rumbled around her house for a few years and the accessory kit disappeared. What type of foot do I use on this machine for quilting on the frame. Thank you in advance.

You need to get a darning foot or free-motion quilting foot. I would order the brand specific one and not a knock-off. Most long arm machines take cones of thread and that is a more economical way to purchase it anyway.

There are a couple people that have a Megaquilter on this forum, hopefully they will come along soon.

Thanks Karen. Do you know if a Janome foot will work? This machine is very intimidating. LOL

I have no idea if a Janome foot will work on a Viking machine. They are two different breeds. Honestly, since you don't have everything that came with the machine, I would stick to a Viking foot until I knew more about it, if I were you.

Ha, I used to play trivia online for several years. Some people stopped playing because I always won.

I googled "Viking Mega Quilter" and found a listing on ebay for 1 for sale. It includes a picture of the accessories that go with this machine. The quilting foot looks a lot like the one for my Brother 1500PQ.
