I bought a piece of flannel today that I have been watching for for months. Then I come home and look at the sale flyer that starts tomorrow and it goes on sale for 60% off. Fortunately I was able to use a 40% off coupon.

I will be traveling for the next few days. Hope there's some left when I get back.

Wishing all a happy and healthy 2015.

I'm curious if it was just my choices or not. A few years ago I bought 6 fat quarters at Joann's.
When I got them home and opened them, they were so thin you could practically see through them.
I haven't bought any of their fat quarters since. Have they upgraded them or did I just have bad luck?
I had a similar experience as Eriepatch. Will not buy FQs at Joann. But I also got the 60% coupon, so wonder what I will have to get for myself.....

About the thin fabric, it could be that particular line of fabric. I went and bought like 10 fabrics one time, and the lady at the store said, wow, you must really like this designer, they're all from the same line of fabric! So it's possible to have picked all the same line.
One time I went to joann's with my friend. I saw some cute fabric for dog bandanas, camo bones and tie dye bones. I asked for fat quarters, which she said they do, but what I got was half a yard. I was ok with that though, I wished afterwards I had gotten half a yard.
I have noticed that the quality is not what it was. That being said - I nearly unwrap them and get to where I can feel one layer of fabric before I buy. The Fat Quarters that are rolled up are usually much better. I have found some there that are from Quilt Shop lines.
But, I will probably be there in the am, too. I need a piece of Flannel to use for the batting of a small puppy blanket for my new granddog to be. He/she will be here this time next week!

I bought 11 fat quarters this morning...I have opened every one of them and not found any unacceptable ones. I have a row of Kaffe Fassett fabric quilt blocks sitting here that I compared them too. I could tell that the Jo-Ann fat quarter fabric was rougher to the touch...but I didn't see any problems with thinness. It seems comparable to other woven cotton at Jo-Ann's. I bought blue and teal colored ones. I hope no one else had poor quality fabric purchases from this sale!
I have bought lots of fq at Joann's. In my opinion they are all a little thinner and have a rougher feel when compared to high quality from like Moda, which are wonderfully smooth and the colors are deeper and richer, just a much higher end product. But the Joann's are still useable. Now if we could just find someplace selling Moda fq for 75¢, that would be a really big deal!!
