    Default pattern in Holiday BLOCK magazine incorrect?

    I have a question regarding the dresden placemat pattern in the Holiday Block magazine on page 76. In your fabric requirements you list that 1/2 yd. fabric is needed for the background from which you need to cut 4 -14 1/2 in. squares. Is this an error as I am finding it impossible to get 4 squares from that amount? Or am I doing something wrong? Thanks
