I need to vent/whine/cry
I haven't sewn in a long, long time and really had no desire to until I found Jenny's tutorials. I feel like a fire has been lit under my feet. Every year when we have our family Christmas dinner, I try to make something new to hold little gifts and candy. That means 12-14 depending on who will be here. When I saw that Christmas stocking this year, I knew I had to do those for next Christmas. First I need to familiarize myself with my machine. I'm getting there. Then I go and buy one charm pack even though I wanted to buy enough to do all the stockings. Well. I am cutting impaired. Most of my squares are square and the same size. But then, a lot are not. I laid them all out, trying so hard to not get two of the same colors together. Fail. I started sewing them together and even though I thought I had thought it out, my seams are going every which way. One set I had to take out and do over 3 times before I got those seams to line up. I ended up pinning them. Jenny made it look soooooooooooooo easy. My toe looks really odd. Looked at the video again and I have the right number in the right place. I think I need to take a step away from it come back later. This one will be my practice one. The other 12 are going to go together beautifully. I just know it. I'm through whining now.

I thought in her video the toes looked odd too. I would trim them to make them rounded I think.

I know the feeling! Now I understand why every quilter says: "Measure twice, cut once"!
But oh boy how many mistakes I made! And still make! Don't worry you're not alone! And remember, a pratice stocking is a must, like everything! Plus you'll feel relaxed because it's just practise I'm sure you'll do better
Can't wait to see it!!
Hugs

I AM CUTTING IMPAIRED TOO! I measure several times, think about it, measure again and somehow, I end up a little wonky to major wonky. However, I make it work. Keep going, like everyone says there are no quilt police.
