Lololol. In my defense, it was the first year so I had to start from scratch. I also bought my machine (349.00), furniture for my craft room (Ikea), quilting supplies, paint, etc. Just about everything I bought was on sale. I now have enough stash. Except...... I just discovered flannel. Joann had some at 60% off. It was 2.99 a yard. I couldn't pass that up. So I made 3 rag quilts for the babies in the family for Christmas. Now I will just get my basics, thread, etc. unless something really knocks my socks off. Nothing really has since November. I have 3 or 4 other quilt tops that I need to sandwich and quilt (not my favorite part).

So that is my story and I'm sticking to it.

Well I did not total anything up but I know I've been over buying for awhile now. I promised myself to limit my purchases to new OZ fabric, Harry Potter (if any comes out), and shopping with gift certificates. I received one $50 certificate for Christmas and I'm holding onto it for a I want that fabric moment. My goal is to sew from stash this year. I have waaaaaay more than enough.

Oh No No No - that's a tally I don't want to see! It is amazing how quickly a quilt can add up though. I'm trying to be very discerning now when I purchase anything - I always use a coupon if I can or get something on sale. Sometimes though, if it is just the right fabric and for someone special, I don't skimp. I have been good about not giving in to the Daily Deals. Unless.....it is absolutely what I've been looking for and know exactly what I would do with it! I have a number of projects lined up and really want to get them done first! Quilting and fabric definitely is an addiction! Albeit, a super Fun and Creative one!

If I added it up I'd have a small heart attack! So in the interest of not wasting money on a medical bill, I will refrain!
But I must cut down! Momma needs a new roof!! Contractor was here yesterday and it's gonna cut into my fabric shopping for a while! How sad!!

Bad idea! Never total up cost of hobby supplies. I have collected a lot of quilt kits the last few years, and piled up several UFOs. The last two years I have worked on finishing those and only buying fabric needed to finish something. This is the year to complete the last of the UFOs. I will still have lots of kits to make, so I don't need to buy very much. Of course I always get gift cards to the fabric shop, so I must spend those on fabric. I'm afraid I will never be able to use it all, but shopping is as much fun as quilting. A lot of people spend loads of money on clothes and shoes. I don't do that. My money goes into quilting supplies instead, and the quilts go to make other people happy. That's not so bad.

That's like at our vet. We have two large dogs and there is a red large sticker on our file to "NEVER give a receipt except for rebates." I told them that these pups are part of the family and I don't need to know how much I spend there either!

I wonder if I could trade the dog for fabric?

My "anniversary" is in April, and I figure I'm probably right about where you're at with my purchases from here. And like others, that's not even including the stuff I've ordered from other sites as well as JoAnns!

"Fabric Diet" started on the 1st and so far I've been good. On a mission to take the 4+ huge storage tubs I have full of stuff for projects and knock it down to at least 3 before I even think about buying any more.
