Default Tips or tutorials for putting pockets in a bag? Bubba? Anyone?

I'm making my first ever bag. The pattern doesn't have pockets but the class sample did & I would like to add some. Slip pockets, probably; maybe a zipper pocket if I get brave. Are there any tutorials anyone likes in particular? Any hints? A pocket for a water bottle would be a nice thing but the tutorials I have found aren't clearing it up for me. I know you people have made some awesome bags, & I would be grateful for help!

(Me? Bite off more than I can chew? Never. OK, OK, maybe.)

I haven't done this yet, but I've had it bookmarked forever. Lazy Girl Designs instructions for putting in a water bottle spot. There are a couple ways to do pockets and I'm not sure I can explain it right. Hopefully someone will come along and give you great instructions.

I made a bag once and put pockets inside. I took a piece of fabric that measured 8-1/2" tall and the width of the inside of the purse. I folded the fabric so it measured 4-1/4" tall and the width of the purse. I put a seam at the long side and then turned that tube so it was right side out. I folded it into thirds and sewed the fold lines to the lining of my bag with the seam pointing to the bottom of the bag. And I just seamed the ends into the sides of the bag when I put the bag together. I hope you understand what I am trying to say here.

Sorry, I was gone earlier and took a nap when we got home. If I understand correctly, you want to do a set in zippered pocket? If so, go to Swoonpatterns.com

There are some tutorials on there and one is for a vertical zipper, but it would work the same for a horizontal zipper. See if that will help. If not, let me know and I'll see what else I can find.
