    Default How *could* I ?!?

Friends, I have really blown it.

I joined an embroidery Block of the Month class. Oh, I thought I was SEW clever. I went to the orientation, I heard that the quilt in question would have an average of SIXTEEN blocks per month. I said, "There's no way I have the bandwidth for 16 embroidery blocks per month." You'd be so proud of me--I said that, out loud, TO the teacher.

But by then they'd downloaded the introductory files onto a flash drive and written my name on it IN INK. And they showed me the "sampler" quilt that only needed four blocks per month. "Four blocks?" I thought, "I can do four blocks. And, besides, they wrote my name on that flash drive IN INK."

Foolish, foolish me. Do you know how long a single HoopSisters block takes to embroider? Like FOUR HOURS when you count all the trimming and fussing and folding, etc. etc. etc. Well, now you know--but I didn't.

And so I am now committed to this massive embroidery project. Granted, the blocks are beautiful. But what am I going to tell all the 2015 Finishing Club members when I can't get anything on my list done because of this BOM club?

Beautiful block! By the way been there, done that. I still plugging away on my original embroidered block quilt! There was so much re- hooping on that one it is still not finished. I just started an embroidered Baltimore album quilt and already have 12 blocks done, no re- hooping!

What is the name of that hoop sisters project? My quilt store said they will be doing another Hoop Sisters project wonder if it's the same one.

That block is beautiful! I do understand why people have one machine dedicated for embroidery - so they can get that going and still piece other things on a different machine.
You can do this - just enjoy the process; maybe have a laptop or tv nearby so when it is stitching a large part you can read or watch something (I have been known to throw loads of laundry in and get dinner started when a block is stitching out...)

No re-hooping on this one! It's called Sewn Seeds. The Premier version is set on point, a first for Hoopsisters. As I said, on the premier quilt, you do an average of 16 blocks per month. It is amazingly beautiful. The sampler is nice, but nothing compared to the premier quilt.

I also chose my own colors. Hoopsisters suggested orange where I used pink, and red where I used purple. Now that I have this first block stitched, I feel really good about my choices.

Each step is pretty quick, so I won't be vacuuming or ironing. But I did bring my Nook to the first class, and I always have Netflix running when I quilt.
