    Default Decisions, decisions . . .

I want an Oliso iron SOOO bad it's crazy! I've been to Joann's website TWICE, actually had the blue one in the cart and then backed out . . . twice! The iron that I currently use works fine, so I'll have trouble explaining to my hubby WHY I bought an expensive iron when mine still works. Well, my question for you quilters is . . . WHICH Oliso should I get? I love them all! But, is the cheaper blue model as good as the yellow one? Probably not, that's why it's cheaper, DUH! If you have an Oliso, which one do you have and what are your thoughts? Any help will be appreciated . . .

My friend received an Oliso as a gift..a yellow one. After a year the lift stopped working. Check out reviews on Amazon before you buy.

I have the pink one. You definitely have to drain it at end of day, Otherwise when you turn it on for the next time it spews water all over the place. Not happy with it. I am seriously considering going back to my Rowenta or my trusty 20 year old Black and Decker.

I have an orange one and love it!!! It has a nonstick plate so nothing, ie iron on interfacing, sticks to it. Not even plastic sticks to it!

I bought the blue one from Joann's. I'm having trouble because I tend to change hands when I'm ironing and the lifts keep going in and out. Never realized before I got this that I did that. Also I seem to have a problem keeping a good grasp on the handle when pushing the buttons for steam and the lifts will pop out. You can turn them off but why when that is the main thing that makes it different. I'm sure it is just a learning curve for me and it will get better.

I have the gray one. It was a birthday gift four years ago from my DBF. He got the gray iron because it had the best reviews at the time. They were even better than the yellow iron. I absolutely love it and have never had a problem with it.

I say make a mental list of the features you want in an iron, then see if your old one fits the bill. I find my Black and Decker "Digital Advantage" ($5 at the Salvation Army) has just what I want in an iron. It heats up fast, gets really hot and shuts off after not being used for about 20 minutes. (That's important to me because I always forget to turn mine off!) I love it and hope it lasts a good long time.

I'm not trying to talk you out of the Oliso, just giving you something to think about. If you didn't buy a new iron, what else could you do with that money?

I have the yellow one and really like it. Heats up fast and has lots of steam. It did take me a while to get used to the squeak it makes when the feet go up or down. And remember to only use tap water instead of distilled water.

I also did the mental list of what I wanted in an iron and the thing that kept popping* up was a more stable iron. I like that this iron sits flat instead of on the end. It hasn't happened often, but DH tends to knock over my irons. Irons really don't like to be dropped a few feet (who would have guessed?!?). I have had it for a year and a half and so far, no drops.

*yeah, I went there with that pun

    I could buy MORE fabric!! I know you're right. I guess that's why I keep hesitating . . . I know I don't need it. It's just so darn cool

You should also check into the Panasonic cordless iron. Several on here including me have one and I love mine.
