I have a Oliso iron and love it. There was a little bit of time that I had to get used to it but I won't have any other kind of iron. It makes a difference to me that I don't have to lift up the iron.

I have the blue one that I got at Joann's Black Friday sale 2013 and love it!! I iron everything and it does such a nice job on my clothes as well as quilting fabric.

I have the blue one and love it. Got it on sale at Joann's. I did hesitate somewhat when reading reviews on Amazon seemed like it failed after 3-6 months for a lot of people, the lift stop working. But I decided to take my chances cause I really wanted it, and if I have to return it down the line I will deal with it then. Besides for the last year and a half I was using a temp iron bought at thrift store for $2.50. I burned it out, the cord actually started on fire, the Oliso just happened to be on sale right then, who could resist.
But getting back to the blue Oliso, it steams really great, cord is plenty long, it makes ironing fun. It has auto shutoff after 8 mins but heats up really fast. So I have nothing bad to say. Just this: go buy one, you won't be sorry!!!
I too am in the market for a new iron; anyone have any experience or knowledge regarding the Reliable iron. See it used on different quilting shows. ???![]()
I don't have an olio, but researched them. The two models are different. For quilting, I was leaning towards the yellow.
The yellow version has higher wattage and a longer time to auto shutoff.
I opted for an iron with no auto shut off, but a large steam tank. This, however, meant that I had to train myself with a shutdown procedure for my sewing area! Auto shutoff is a nice safety feature, but 8 minutes is just too darn short for me.
I have not bought one yet but did do some research on them and found that the least expensive model they have has only 8 minutes for the auto shutt off. For me this would be to short. They have some with 30 mins I think but those were much more expensive.
They are on sale right now at Joann's for $55
Blessed are the children of the piecemakers for they shall inherit the quilts!
I have the Oliso yellow and I love it. As someone else said, it makes ironing fun. Even my hubby loves this iron. Actually i was telling him yesterday that the blue one was on sale at Joann and he said he has seriously considered getting a second one just in case something happened to ours. He irons his own shirts and is always looking for a time when I am not quilting or its time to sleep so he can use the iron. I think I might buy him one of his own. Ha Ha.
I can say WE LOVE THE OLISO

I remember seeing the yellow Oliso iron when I first started watching Jenny's tutorials. I thought it was soooo cool! I priced them and checked into them and others. I bought it for myself for Christmas but only paid $134 on www.massdrop.com. If you aren't in a hurry, it might be worth waiting for it. Right now, 41 users have requested this product. Once 200 users have requested it, the price drops and whatever you committed to, you will get at that price. It was my only experience with Massdrop and it was a positive one. I love my new iron! Mostly I love that it lies flat and I don't have to worry about it getting tipped over (seems cats jump up there a lot). I also love that it stays on for 30 minutes. I need that when I'm piecing and then need to get up to iron, etc. It's a hefty iron with some weight on it which is probably why it irons so well, as well as the higher wattage. Heavier irons are not for everyone.
