    Default Good Beginner Tote Patterns

Jennie has inspired me to make a zippered pouch. Bought all the stuff now I just need the courage. I'm thinking if this works out well I'd like to "graduate" to making some totes/purses/bags, etc. I know there are a bunch of you that make BEAUTIFUL totes/purses, etc. Which ones are good for a beginner tote/purse/bag sewer?

    Thanks in advance.

I really like the class over at Craftsy.com It's called Quilt As You Go Patchwork Bags taught by Tara Rebman.

There's also several free tote classes there as well.

I like totes/handbags from Pink Sand Beach Co or Lazy Girl Patterns as they show step by step instructions with pictures.

I love Jenny's charm tote pattern. Can't even count how many of those I've made!

Agreed. I use these two for the majority of my patterns. Love their designs and the instructions are awesome.

I like Jenny's tutorials with the charm packs and jelly rolls. Also her zippered pouch one could very easily be enlarged for a tote. Just follow her instruction on inserting the zipper then follow her instruction in the jelly roll tutorial on adding shoulder straps to the length you want.

I found Jenny's 3 in 1 charm pack tote tutorial so easy. Nice part is there are a lot of ways to adapt that pattern.

For the most part, Jenny's tuts! And of course Pat is always a bad influence, ROFL! Found some pictures of purses and just winged it. But now that the "FEAR OF THE ZIPPER" has been overcome by Jenny's last tut, I'm buzzing those puppies out. Bought some zippers at WalMart, but ordered a bunch more, hope they get here SOON!
