Question In need of a better light

I am asking for more light in my little corner that I work in. There is no room to clamp a light to. I am needing just a bit because the sunlight is coming from behind me as well as the ceiling light. I do have a small shelf about 2 inches wide at the back of my sewing buffet that I could put something on. Do you have any ideas? What do you currently use? Your likes and dislikes?

    Thank you for replying!

My very favorite lamp is one for architects. It is round and has both a regular bulb and a round florescent bulb. I have it clamped onto the edge of my old sewing machine cabinet, could probably clamp it to edge of shelf. Google architectural lamp, my computer has died and I can't do links on ipad. This really gives great light...even better than my Ott lamp.

I use one of these OttLites that I got from JoAnn's. I love it since I can take it with me to every dark corner I sit in. My house has horrible lighting, so I desperately needed extra light while sewing.

A simple two bulb fluorescent lamp with two "daylight" bulbs in them. The bulbs are a little expensive, but it's a full spectrum light, like daylight. I have a wall plug that I use, elongated the plug on the hanging fixture by rewiring the assembly, and hung the entire unit with two swag hooks and chain. My portion of the room in the afternoon becomes very dark. This works very nicely for low cost, and really lights up sewing/cutting, pressing areas, causing no eye strain. Both fixture and bulbs easily found at Home Depot, Lowe's.

I have the same Ott lite as Sheep farmer I love it. Also have a flourescent light screwed to the underside of the shelf over my machine.

    Here's one idea......

Quiltville's Quips & Snips!!: Let There Be LIGHT!!

I also saw someone on a quilting blog attached a row of LED lights on her machine but I can't remember where I saw that. If I find it I will come back and post it.

Thanks Pam! I have been looking at various LED light strips and this set was the most economical for me. I got the Sewing Machine LED kit with the Sewing Kit expansion and will be able to light both my sewing machine and my long arm for $45. I am so excited! All of the other combinations I saw were much higher or had to get 2 separate, but was also higher. Doing the happy dance over here!

I have lots of light in my room, but wanted more. MM went to Frys and bought a strip of LED lights that he is going to divide up for each of my machines. I can't wait....well, I can, since I've spent all day in bed.
